Friemind started in 2026, in Istanbul, with one person who'd realized something embarrassingly simple: the friends I cared most about were the ones I heard from least.
The big social apps were never built for them. They were built for an audience of strangers — for performance, virality, scale. The people closest to me had been quietly buried under a thousand louder voices. I'd see what an old coworker ate for lunch but go six months without checking in on someone I love.
"What would a social app look like if it actively refused to scale?"
That's the question. Friemind is the answer I'm building.
Friendship is a long-form practice. It happens over years, not posts. The tools we use should treat it that way — with patience, with quiet, with room for things to be imperfect.
Small is the point. I don't want you to have a thousand connections on Friemind. I want you to have the people who actually matter to you, and actually feel close to them.
Intimacy needs walls. A wall between you and the rest of the internet. A wall between this conversation and the next. A wall around the jar that doesn't open until December.
I won't optimize for engagement. Friemind will never show you who saw what. Never build streaks. Never push you to come back. If I've done my job, you'll come back when there's something to say.
Friemind is free. A Premium upgrade unlocks extra color palettes, additional sign shapes, and removes the 3 signs/week limit — cosmetic and volume only, nothing core is gated. That's the only thing I charge for.
No data sales. No subscription that auto-renews while you're asleep. No venture money. I'd rather grow slowly and stay independent than grow fast and turn into the thing I'm trying to replace.
