An email address, so you can sign in and we can recover your account if your phone falls in a lake.
A display name, so your friends know who's leaving the note.
Anonymous crash reports and basic usage telemetry — how often the app crashes, which screens are slowest. No content. No identifiers tied to your friend graph.
Payment info, if you purchase Premium. Handled by Apple or Google's in-app purchase system. We never see your card details.
Your contacts. Your location. Your microphone or camera unless you tap a button to use them. The contents of your notes, jars, or letters — these are encrypted on your device before they ever reach us.
Each wall has a key generated on your device the first time you create it. That key is shared directly with the friend on the other side, never with our servers. Notes are encrypted with that key before upload. We store the encrypted blob; we don't have the key. If we got hacked tomorrow, the attacker would walk away with a pile of unreadable noise.
The honest caveat: backups. If you turn on iCloud or Google Drive backup of the app, the keys are backed up too — under their security model, not ours. You can opt out in settings.
We don't share your data with anyone. Not advertisers, not data brokers, not "partners." The only third parties who touch any of it are:
Apple & Google for app delivery and in-app purchases. Supabase / AWS for hosting (encrypted blobs only). Resend for the very occasional system email.
You can export everything you've ever written, at any time, as a folder of plain text and images. You can delete your account from inside the app — your data is purged from our servers within 30 days. If you're in the EU, UK, or California, you have the right to ask us what we have on you and have it deleted; email privacy@friemind.com and we'll respond within a week.
Friemind is not designed for people under 13. We don't knowingly collect their data.
If we change anything substantive, we'll email everyone with an account at least 30 days before it takes effect. No "we updated our terms" notification you have to dismiss to keep using the app.
If anything here is unclear, or you want to know exactly what we have on you, email privacy@friemind.com. A real person reads it.
— thanks for trusting us with the small stuff.
